Grey Goo Is Killing US, and the antidote for Progressive Politics

We are slowly being consumed by "Grey Goo"or  Progressive Politics.

"What? Grey Goo is going to get me?"

No.  It already has, some more than others, but we are all infected to one degree or another.  Let me explain.

First,  the symptoms of being contaminated by the "Grey Goo."
  • Words have differing meanings depending on circumstances, certain words are not to be used, and inappropriate words are used in place.
  • Fact, science, and histories change to suite present conditions.
  • Logical thinking is ignored and or ridiculed.
  • Absolute Good does not exist.
  • Absolute Bad/Evil does not exist.
  • If one achieves, produces or gains success it was probably achieved by evil means and if one fails it was by the evil intent and or action of others. ("Oh! How can points three and five be valid?"  See my next point......)
  • Contradictions and hypocrisy are ignored especially if it furthers the production of more Grey Goo.

We/they use Grey Goo every day, at the office, at home, in our relationships, in our political beliefs, and our religion. We attend "voluntary" lunch meeting because not attending would reflect badly when evaluation time rolls around. Tiger woods wanted to be a playboy and a family man at the same time. (Sorry dude, you can only pick one) We may snap at our spouse because we are frustrated with an unrelated manner, leaving the spouse miffed and confused. We complain about our political system but don't vote, and otherwise do not hold our representatives accountable.  (And they/we rely on the Grey Goo more and more every day.)  Its a bit maddening and dirty

"I don't think I want or like the Grey Goo.   Seems icky and wrong.   Help Me!"

Don't worry, there is a cure.  Just think, rationally that is.  Yep, that simple, but not easy.  The most interesting thing about man is that he is a thinking rational creature.  He as a naked animal that is, soft of skin, slow, susceptible to cold and heat, has weak teeth and no claws, his noes ears and eyes are not exceptional.  His offspring are born one at a time and helpless for many years requiring much effort to bring to maturity.
What man excels at is thinking with his mind.  He is a rational creature.  He views, measures and accesses his environment, makes decisions that help him live, and to not do so will lead to death be it immediate or in the long term.  With man's thinking mind he can now see across the universe, and detect and analyze the smallest atomic particles. He grows and raises food, pre-digesting it in factories and or other mechanized means (cooking).  He can have the thickest armor, fly to the moon, live on the equator the artic or other planets (soon) for that matter.  In short, rational thinking is good.  What is good you may ask? (And this is important)  Good is what helps man live.  Food is good, sex is good, air is good, clothing is good, steel is good, my guitar is good, science is good, thinking rationally is good. These few examples help us live. (Hope I made my point.)

The Inoculation or thinking rationally.
    • Words mean things. Not only do they convey thought they are a contract between people to communicate  ideas.  It is the way we tell others about our environment, our desires, and ideas.  An intentionally misused word is a breaking of the contract, specifically used to deceive, to give one a false view of his environment; otherwise to prevent rational thinking.  ("So the voluntary lunch meeting is really not voluntary?"   Uh-hu, emm yes.  You know it, they know it.   The same way "Undocumented Immigrants" is thrown around in the news and by politicians.  "Sow why do they do that?"  They do it to rob from you.  To take your time without the agreed compensation in the first case, and to prevent you from properly accessing your environment in the second.  An Undocumented Immigrant implies a lack of paperwork for someone who intends to lawfully enter and reside, when in fact the first act upon entering the country was to break the law.  In short:To prevent you from making a rational decision.)  One must view words as contracts and treat them as such. You wouldn't hire a contractor to tile your floor and accept carpet it in violation of the signed contract, right?
    • Fact, science, and histories do not change.  Shure new facts emerge, new discoveries, but a fact is a fact.  These are the data points of our rational world. A hydrogen atom is a hydrogen atom, an ounce of gold is an ounce of gold, human nature is human nature.
    • Think logically.  A=A  Think scientifically? ( What is the true cost of  energy?  Should we not think in terms of thermal dynamics rather than political-economics?)  Substitute ideas and people in the news to see if you are being manipulated.  What if Condoleezza Rice had a private e-mail server?  George Jefferson uses the "Honkey" word all the time but the Duke boys never uttered an even off comment about any ethnic group ever.  Why is George still on the air and the Dukes are off?
    • Good does exist.  What helps man to live is good. Ask yourself often, Is this good?
    • Bad/Evil does exist, it what prevents man from living.  It has many forms.  Recognize it, do not accept it.
    • Achievement is good.  Wealth is good. Selfishness is not A NEGITIVE WORD. (Sorry I yelled but this is important.)
    • Contradictions do not exist.  If you find a contradiction check your premise, one is wrong. And you are not required to tolerate hypocrisy of any kind.
    • Do not violate your integrity.

The Grey Goo is the absence of thought and reason.  It provides a false view of the environment and prevents thinking. Grey Goo prevents the spread of ideas and destroys.  It does not serve man to live.  It is not good.  It is the tool of the Progressive left (and right).  It is the tool of  for choice that use the name of God to make others suffer. It is the tool of vain and pretentious political leaders that think they know better.  Grey Goo is the food of the collectivist, the socialist, the communist, the dictator , the theocracy, and totalitarian alike.  Grey Goo is poison for the thinking individual. (And thus the constant effort to classify and group us all.)

Really think, its like a cup or two of brain bleach killing off the grey goo..

Our republic us out of scale

It is my opinion that we are no longer represented by our elected officials because the voting public has too little influence as compared to a big corporation or the deep pockets of special interest groups. Corporatism now abounds while capitalism is pushed to the side, and blamed for any failure or perceived social injustice. The path we are on is doomed to failure because it is a consumptive process, stripping drive ambition, wealth and capital in exchange for privilege and power.

Our republic us out of scale.

The Wright brothers built their experimental flying machine in their spare time apart from their bicycle manufacturing business . Does one think the same freedom exists today to achieve? What type of permits and government permission would be required if a parallel venture were to happen today? How much innovation has been stifled because of the ever increasing and invasive bureaucracy.

We are out of scale. There is no chance to ever run into any of our elected officials in line at the Wallymart or grocery. Our officials are distant and faceless to us in everyday life.  We only see what the media allows us to see.  We are disconnected from our leadership and they are disconnected from us.. I think it may be time to start thinking about resizing our republic.

The first census in 1790 counted 4 million Americans. Based on that count, the total number of members elected to the House of Representatives grew from the original 65 to 106.  That rounds up to about 38,000 individuals per congressman as compared to today with a population of 319 million with 435 house representatives a ratio of 733,333 to one, a twenty fold increase.  If we were to stick with the math we would need to have over 8,395 house representatives!

At first this number seems insane, but is it?  How much more difficult would it be for corporate or special interest to line the pockets lobby so many more representatives.  In reality one only has to lobby one half of one party or roughly 1/4 of the house, 108 members with the present structure as compared to 2,098 if we maintained the scale of the past.  Think how special interest would have to put so much more effort and money to lobby an extra 2,000 members, yet you, the individual would be much more closely connected.

Would getting legislation passed more or less difficult?  I don't know, and don't care frankly, it's  just having a larger number of cats to herd .

Capitalism, a moral construct and why they must destroy it...

Yesterday I happened to reach my hand into the preverbal bucket of ells over at cmblake6's porch
discussing the interest in both political parties on raising gas taxes because the cost of fossil fuels is down at the moment,  sparking some fundamental thinking and specifically  asking myself why? (This is en edited and expanded version/of my comments on his page)

    On energy:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRdMXsmGIno

Fundamentally keeping energy costs down is the most critical aspect to the function of a society. The lower the cost, the greater we all benefit and inversely, the higher the cost of energy the less efficient any activity costs with no benefit being realized. Lower the cost of energy and all of a sudden, new mines become profitable, farmers can run pumps and till the soil for less $$ and it costs less to run the beer cooler at the local mini-mart. The result is more stuff, cheaper for everyone and yep , that’s a simplification but true, everyone wins.

"But my friend Joe works in the oilfield and he is afraid of being laid off"

We can always find a case of individual hardship if we look close enough, but the reality is the entire
society benefits from lower energy costs.  This is what the left does, uses emotion to get their way, to ratchet up the rhetoric.  We don't do that here if we wish to be intellectually honest and maintain integrity.

So why would any Republican party member want to increase taxes on energy? Well I will answer that, that is because these progressive Republicans do not have, recognize, or have compromised the moral value of capitalism. And YES!  Capitalism is a moral construct, it is an ideal.

"Capitalism is a social system based on the recognition of individual rights, including property rights, in which all property is privately owned.

The recognition of individual rights entails the banishment of physical force from human
relationships: basically, rights can be violated only by means of force. In a capitalist society, no man or group may initiate the use of physical force against others. The only function of the government, in such a society, is the task of protecting man’s rights, i.e., the task of protecting him from physical force; the government acts as the agent of man’s right of self-defense, and may use force only in retaliation and only against those who initiate its use; thus the government is the means of placing the retaliatory use of force under objective control."

And the very ideal must be destroyed by the progressives, socialist, tribal chieftain or any other oligarchies for that matter.

"When I say “capitalism,” I mean a full, pure, uncontrolled, unregulated laissez-faire capitalism—with a separation of state and economics, in the same way and for the same reasons as the separation of state and church."--A.Rand

Why? Because Capitalism, proves them all wrong. With true capitalism, not this phony semi
socialistic cronyism we have now, there is no such thing as a poor oppressed working class that is so needed in our favorite socialistic societies. Class privilege is non existent as are monopolies in true capitalism. Economic mobility, freedom of expression abound. Capitalism thrives in a limited government setting, while socialism can only exist with the heavy fist of the state, and well, the state is not going to willingly cede power.

Increasing the cost of energy through taxation is like adding abrasive to the oil of an engine, the engine has to work harder due to the added friction; the same is true for an economy, and if I were asked on the best and quickest way to damage the ideal of capitalism, I would increase the cost of energy at every level and blame capitalism for its own failure at every turn. Sound familiar ?

So why are these guys in office? WTF? Time to get some real challengers lined up for the next primary….. I an so tired of the immoral/unprincipled/chameleon claiming they are leading us…..

“Only fundamental principles, rationally validated, clearly understood and voluntarily accepted, can create a desirable kind of unity among men.”—A. Rand

I dare any politician to answerer  the following question:    (Oh how I would love to moderate a live primary debate!)

Does man need values at all—and why?

    Bucket of Eels, an analogy

I know my posting has been lacking in the recent past and I apologize.  One reason is that I am having a hard time tiring to get my head around the events of the recent past and how to make sense of them. Too much to for one to comprehend each issue individually, too much to handle all at once.  There has been, police murders at the hands of racists, protests, betrayal by our elected officials (Congress and the election of our overly tan Speaker), attacks by Islamofacits in France, and the creation of a new Federal program, MyIRA, by the Executive Branch (uhhhh???  Unconstitutional!!!!)....the list goes on.

Just how is one to deal with all of this at once?   Well one cant.  In my political/ philosophical thinking I have come up with the concept/analogy that it is like "A Bucket of Eels"; slimy, always in motion, each eel blending with the others, at any one moment any one eel (issue) can not be seen completely.  The issue or eel hides behind others intertwining in the total slime of its environment. Try to grab any specific eel out of the bucket and chances are you will come up empty handed and covered in slime. (The progressive rely on this!!!)

I remember a family friend we would visit by boat, my family and I  crossing the Great South Bay
from Long Island, NY to his residence on Fire Island.  This gentleman whom was retired, seemed ancient to me as teen and was as "Salty" as the day was long in summer.  I remember him prepping eels he had trapped for market.  He would prep his hands with sand, reach into the bucket and expertly remove a live squirming eel and stun it by throwing it against a board. The stunned eel would then be expertly gutted and skinned in one fluid motion; a single cut and a pull resulting in  the head skin and organs tossed to the waiting sea birds, the silver grey eel prepped for market.

So as for my analogy its pretty simple to see how politicians, activist and the media are represented by the eels, but how to deal with them is best represented by the old Long Island Fisherman.  The sand on your hands is your philosophy, it provides for your grip on the issue; one must have a firm grip on the issue.  Does one have the ability to grip every issue/eel all at once?  No, but once you have a grip, stun the issue with irrefutable facts and quickly skin it showing its true inner structure, repeat until the bucket is empty.  Apply as much sand as necessary and repeat until the bucket is empty.

Skinning eels may be difficult but the results are delicious...

Some loot by breaking windows, others with a voting booth.

I am at the point of just letting them have it; meaning do nothing, no fire department, no police, turn off the electricity, and leave... Let the looters (throwing bricks) figure out how to restock the shelvs at Wallgreen’s. Let the looters (the zero liability voters) figure out who to tax into oblivion when the factories close up and move. I want to stand at the smoldering perimeter (both literally and figuratively) and shout "This is yours! This is your world, a direct representation of your values. Do with it what you will, but I will refuse to do anything. Do not ask me for food, shelter or warmth. This is your world, live in it if you can."

Toddlers Know the Truth... Until They're Talked out of It

Toddlers Know the Truth... Until They're Talked out of It

I have privately joked that I am not been  mentally contaminated by a higher formal education, though my continual  murdering of the English language would beg to differ.  When I read Jefferson's quote in this article
"State a moral case to a plowman and a professor. The former will decide it as well, and often better than the latter, because he has not been led astray by artificial rules."
I was hooked and hade to share.

"Toddlers may be ignorant of many things, but they understand basic elements of life quite clearly. And we can see that understanding in the three things we hear every toddler say, over and over:

    It’s mine.
    You said.
    It’s not fair.
I doubt there’s a semi-intelligent adult in the English-speaking world who hasn’t heard those words dozens of times. So, let’s look at the understanding they contain:"  Clicky here: Toddlers Know the Truth... Until They're Talked out of It

What do we do about it?

A few day ago while having a deep social/philosophical discussion with some new friends regarding  what our country and western culture has become  I was asked a remarkably well timed and
simple question; "What do we do about it?".   I was caught off guard and replied truthfully, "I don't know."  No one involved in the discussion disputed the degenerative path we, as a country, are skipping down to hell with holding a hand basket full of hopelessness.  So how does one individual maintain his/her integrity and fight the system, a system that in it's current state is corrupt immoral and unjust?

The problem as I see it is akin to fans funning onto the football field after the big game.  If one or two fans run onto the field , security will tackle 'em, cuff 'em, and stuff 'em in a cell.  However if a dozen charge the field, well things change quickly.  That situation is the most dangerous,  the point when the "Security" feels threatened and feels things may tip out of control.  This is the point where the nightsticks start swinging. No one wants to be the first 25 on the field and get their clock cleaned.  And the fear of that is what keeps the fans in the stands, the fear of physical harm.  This fear is the fulcrum the state uses to keep us in our place.  However when the fulcrum of fear has been removed the minds of the fans, the field is flooded with fans and security is
rendered flaccid in the face of the mob.

Back to the question:  What do we do about it?  First let me state whatever one decides to do must be moral and not violate ones integrity.  Additionally whatever is decide must not violate another persons individual rights.  To not do so is to just be an agitator, rabble, unjust and immoral ceding any right to any credibility.  With that said let me ask do you feel powerless and if so why?  My bet is if you do feel powerless it is out of fear.  Fear of not being able to make a difference, fear of ridicule, fear of being numbers 1-25 running onto the field and getting wacked with the baton.  Oh! These are real fears, but fears nevertheless.  Fear though has to be quantified and put in its rightful place.  So after thinking about it I came up with the answer.  Rationally think about your fears and integrity and prioritize your actions with the relationship between the two in  mind.

So what does this mean?  Well it will mean something different to each and every person.  It may be as simple as overcoming the fear of publicly ridiculing someone who cuts in line at the grocery store. It may be actually penning a letter expressing ones heartfelt concerns and letting go of the fear of being monitored.  It may to  reinvestigate a closely held premises when contradicted.  One may decide to respond to a friends Facebook post and ask for an explanation of the "Progressive Meme". Decide how your actions or inaction can help or not.  And yes inaction is as valuable at times.  Think if you refused to rent a room, car, serve a meal etc. to a member of the organization you strongly oppose.

The bottom line is this, do not be afraid to act (or not) on your values.  Do not violate your integrity. I
am not going to say "Don't be afraid".  Be very afraid if warranted but measure that fear alongside your values and integrity. I am not going to go into what happens when the state becomes all powerful....

For me, I am getting over my fear of cleaning up filthy stinking messes.

    Requred Viewing.... Subversion

    Subversion....

"Yuri Bezmenov, a.k.a. Tomas Schuman, soviet KGB defector, explains in detail his scheme for the KGB process of subversion and takeover of target societies at a lecture in Los Angeles, 1983.
Yuri Alexandrovitch Bezmenov is a former KGB propagandist who was assigned to New Dehli, India, defected to the West in 1970, and was interviewed by Edward Griffin in 1985. Bezmenov explains his background, some of his training, and exactly how Soviet propaganda is spread in other countries in order to subvert their teachers, politicians, and other policy makers to a mindset receptive to the Soviet ideology.

He also explains in detail the goal of Soviet propaganda as total subversion of another country and the 4 step formula for achieving this goal. He recalls the details of how he escaped India, defected to the West, and settled in Montreal as an announcer for the CBC"

    The Second Hander

    The Second Hander

Seriously, I love the debate and engage both friend and foe alike and am always amazed at how many people have made up their minds on one issue or another based on their feelings alone?  And rarely does any person want to be shown they are wrong, uniformed, or holds onto a flawed philosophy if they have one at all.  So let me stop you here…  If you are unwilling to think logically, go away now. There are plenty of other spots on the intenetz that have naked girls, egg , milk and granny panties, monkeys with machine guns and cats playing with yarn.

Still here? Kool!  Let's pop some tags in the thrift store of ideas bitch!

The two thing of most importance that I feel are lacking in our society today are peoples ability to have a philosophy and think logically, and defiantly not in that order.  You see in my humble yet seemingly arrogant opinion, one must first be logical before developing ones philosophy, otherwise the philosophy becomes an excuse for illogical thinking and beliefs.  For example, just take any one of the popular “-isims” of today and bring it to its natural and logical conclusion and define its outcome.  Do we wind up with a free people or a police state?  Does it become a theocracy, oligarchy, anarchy, or a stable and free civilization?

So in my thinking, and hopefully somewhat logically, I have determined that there are two types of people, and therefore two types of societies.  I will define them for the purpose of discussion, Prime and Secondhand.  The Prime as it pertains to the individual is the Doer, The Producer, The Thinker/Creator.  He does not rely on others for satisfaction or affirmation.  He does because he wants to, be it write a song, build a Hot Rod, invent a new device or process, or code a program.  His work is his, to be traded for what he/she agrees by his own free will.   The same can be said for businesses.  A business may also be considered a Prime, such as the steel producer, car manufacture, or software firm.  A Prime business competes not only with its direct competition but also with itself much in the same way a professional golfer does.  A true Prime welcomes the competition as he knows it only makes him better.

So what is a “Second hander”?  The second hander lives off others work as a parasite.  The second hander is like the boss that takes all the credit when things go right and lays blame for when things go wrong. (I bet we have all seen that) It is the consultant that works harder to keep his client dependant rather than serve his clients best interest.  It is the corporation that lobbies for special consideration from the government to keep competition at bay.  It’s the songwriter that steals a line or a lick while giving no credit.  The second hander feeds off the Prime offering little in return, and certainly not by mutual agreement. The pinnacle example of the Second Hander is the welfare broodmare that has no intention of self betterment. (Yep I said it)  It is the person that shouts racism because his argument has failed, using the real pain and struggle of others as cover for his failed argument. (Go to hell race baiter.. feeding off of real hero's of the past..)  It is the person that lies about his military service, pretends to be a NYC 9-11 firefighter or cop. It is another shitty energy drink that is stuffed in a convenience store cooler thinking it will become the next Red Bull or monster without real work and vision.  Its the person or corporation that rides on another's success.

That said, I will go out on a limb and conclusively decree it is much better to be a Prime than a second hander.  (Don’t agree?  Make a logical argument that recognizes normal human behavior!)

With the above ideas in mind we can look at people, business, religions, philosophies, monetary systems and governments with a more critical eye and decide if they hurt, help, or are simply benign to the betterment of man. We can ask ourselves just what is our government promoting, being a Prime or a Second Hander?  Is a particular politician a Prime(leader) or a Second Hander(mindless poll whore).  Does a particular union serve its members or simply itself.  Is that new law serving a legitimate need or regulating an advantage of one business over another.
......and dare I say Capitalism is the only social economic system that promotes the Primes rather than just outright stealing from them.

Link-O-Rama Some Random stuff that explains things about me.......

Nothing deep today, just some randomness.

Below is the most influential (to me that is) TV commercial and toy from my childhood. Smashing up cars, twangy country inbred hillbilly music, Ford vs. Chevy,  '57 Nomad, 57 Ford.   I begged and pleaded for the set as a youngster, (and quiet frankly I think it was an easy sell to the old man at the time), and received it for Christmas one year.   My brother and I would send them down the hallway head on at each other, black streaks from single flywheel/tire on the oak floor, chunks of wood torn from the baseboard.  Speed , destruction, ramps, wheels doors and prts flying off on impact.  Good times!  Hell Yeah!  The Evel Knievel stunt cycle was a close second, but Smash up Derby was the bomb.  I even went to the real deal spending lots of time in the '70's and early '80's at Islip Speedway (Click for documentary) not even knowing that I was at the center of the Demolition Derby universe at the time.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyoUcofBo9I

Most influential movie....Dr. Strangelove.  With a small caveat, for me it was tie with Full Metal Jacket and full Metal lost.  And why does FMJ loose?  Well that's because of a glaring flaw in the script in one of the most famous and most often quoted scenes.  (click to watch)  I hate big flaws.... and in this case, when firing from a moving platform (you are going faster than the target) you trail the target or otherwise shoot behind the slow moving target. Duh! (Click for an example)  And by the way, if you know any glairing movie/tv mistakes that have made it deep into pop culture feel free to comment. Not stuff that is simple mistakes of props, or use of stock footage, but stuff that makes you cringe. (Like the Irish Catholic fireman drinking the wrong whisky.  Has anyone out there caught that yet? That's like wearing a Boston hat in Yankee Stadium for gods sake!!! )  Just comment below, I would love to develop a list.

Are we witnessing the Left turning on The Obama Administration?

In my ponderings  have come to the conclusion that the progressives never ever blame anything on their own failed ideas.  It is always we need more money, more time, a more regulation a new program, a new law, or a new leader.  The "idea" in their mind is never faulty, it is always something else...  You see, the progressive ideology is a religion of sorts, being that it is not based on rational thought on the surface anyway. It's more like Blind Faith and shallow thinking.  Kind of like... "Feeding fish in my tank is good and food is good for fish.   So if the fish are dying they must be fed more!  And you say they need less food? You must be racist against fish!!"

One could make the argument it may be rational to destroy our constitutional republic and replace it
with a "Progressive Utopia" with themselves in charge, but they don't do that..... That would be intellectually honest.  And when a progressive dares become intellectually honest he must realize that he/she is either misinformed or Evil.  Take the misinformed "Progressive" for example, he does not view himself as evil and  quite frankly the view is just the opposite.  The self view is one of an altruistic nature that values "helping others".  Being viewed as good especially by others, is a desired status that is held at the highest premium.

So what is the happens in the mind of a progressive that becomes intellectually honest?  Lets start with what I believe to be the minority of the set.  This is the person that "Just wants the power" and at any cost. He just cant say it  out loud, at least until he has full control, otherwise way to much opposition. I'll use the term "Inherently Evil Progressive".  If he speaks honestly it is only within his trusted circles.

So then we are left with the second type I will call "The Altruistic Progressive", and if this type of Progressive is challenged they have a few choices. They can be intellectually honest and openly debate,(and learn) or shut down and act as if their ideas are infallible and that any challenge is irrelevant.

I dare say that the latter is the primary choice, and for good reason.  It is difficult to have closely held ideas to be proven wrong.  The "Progressive Religion"  can not be wrong.......Because, well,  Brondo has electrolytes.

Rationally speaking though, I understand, It is very difficult to have true empathy for all of mankind. It is hard to truly believe and act as if all men are created equal. It is gut wrenching to see pain and suffering.  It is way too humbling to say "I was wrong".  Much easier to blame not enough  money, time, yell for regulation or a new program, pen a new law, or blame the leader.

So are we witnessing this now?  Has the Altruistic Progressives started to turn on their dear leader?  When John Stewart, SNL, and Bill Clinton toss him under the bus my magic 8 ball says "Signs point to yes".

Affordable (my ass) Care or Obama (don't) Care---- A Rant

Ok I  getting just a bit fed up....  Lets call this what it is and stop fooling ourselves.

This healthcare kluster F*** has little to nothing to do with healthcare.  In my opinion BarryCare was never intended to work. It is simply another piece in the effort to overwhelm the American system with costs, inefficiency and debt. Why do this? Simple……What is left of our Capitalist Constitutional Republic must be destroyed and subsequently declared a failure, by the Progressives so they can build their “utopian empire”. Time to call it what it is…. it’s a con. Like "The War on Poverty", Fail!(con) War on Drugs, a con, Failure! War on freedom and self determination,....ummm, well they are doing a pretty good job on that, they just call it something else like The affordable Care Act, Brady Bill or Directive 10-289…

Hell look at what I wrote on March 23, 2010 and the comments!!

So lets see, the government has over regulated the insurance industry thus causing costs to go up. It then turns around and says people can't afford heath care so we are going to make it cheaper, but they actually make it more expensive and get more people dropped.  And never ever  do they blame themselves when things go poorly?  NO!  I even hear people that are normally quite reasonable say that ACA needs to be replaced with something. Hell! If your house is on fire you don’t need to REPLACE the fire with something else! You put out the fire. It needs to go away forever!

Want to fix healthcare? Allow insurance to be sold across state lines! (if there ever was a proper use of the interstate commerce clause this would be one!!) 50 states with a dozen or so Insurers, each with about a dozen plans, and you have over 7000 choices! Bet you can find a good one that fits just right!

Does a single 50 year old man with a vasectomy need coverage for child birth? Do a lesbian couple
need or want coverage for prostate cancer screening?….. With 7000 choices I bet there’s a plan for that……
But nooooo! Gubberment must be up the ass of every frigging thing and every time it “Fixes something" we loose……and get one step closer to a totalitarian hell, steeped in inefficiency and lies.

BTW: Heath insurance came to be as a byproduct (unintended consequence) of governmental regulation. Durring WWII wages were frozen and business need skilled employees. Competition was fierce and employees could not be attracted with higher wages. What could be done is to offer “Benefits” such as stock, paid vacation, paid sick days, and yes…Pay your Dr. bills or health insurance! Now I know this is all commonplace today but before this you worked, and then got paid…. That was it. (But man is innovative,  we figure out how to get what we want/need despite the rules and regulation, be it a benefit program, the black market or whatever.  The law of unintended consequences always will rear its ugly head in one form or another.  Can't wait to see what happens in this case....just out of perverse curiosity)

Well damn it!...Wish I could run off to the Gulch or ship out to  The off world colonies……but…….. oh well, Guess I'll see you at the district lottery, in the Silo, at carrousel, or whatever the Social Utopian outcome is to be…. O brave new world!!!!

    End Rant........sigh.

Space Marines, Johnny Cash, Pancakes and Death by Black hole.

Space Marines, Johnny Cash, Pancakes and Death by Black hole; how much better can it get for cheesy sci-fi?  This YouTube gem is a must see if you are a fan of any of the above.

Space: Above and Beyond if anyone remembers was a very short lived Sci-fi series that lasted only one season on the Fox network.  It featured poor acting, semi bad special effects, and semi cheesy plots..... but it had something.....  It had a certain familiarity that could be recognized, probably because of the equipment and well... just the idea of  space marines is cool.  The Marine pilots fly the SA-43 Endo/Exo-Atmospheric Attack Jet, "Hammerhead" from Space Carrier USS Saratoga and battle the really nasty  alien race of "Chigs". .... And all this five years before Halo appeared on the market, not to mention the film adaptation of Starship Troopers* two years later.  I dare say S: AAB might have just influenced a few writers, directors and programmers.  Happy geeking out!

    Fixing the military----

Yesterday I posted The down side of Totalitarian Rule of the military , and I may have just found some supporting evidence over at Danger Room:  How to Fix the Army: Sack All the Generals.
    Tasty snippets:
"Lt. Col. Daniel L. Davis doesn’t have faith in Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ray Odierno.
Or the rest of the U.S. Army’s generals, for that matter.
Writing in the August issues of The Armed Forces Journal (“Purge the generals“), Davis argues that it’s high time to sack the Army’s senior leaders for what he sees as an institutionalized epidemic of astonishing failures that not only go unreported, but are typically rewarded. All of it, he says, is creating a self-perpetuating culture of abysmal performance that won’t go away until the generals do."
"And Thomas Ricks wrote in The Atlantic in November 2012 (“General Failure”) that, “To a shocking degree, the Army’s leadership ranks have become populated by mediocre officers, placed in positions where they are likely to fail. Success goes unrewarded, and everything but the most extreme failure goes unpunished, creating a perverse incentive system that drives leaders toward a risk-averse middle where they are more likely to find a stalemate than a victory.”"
"He added: “Ironically, our generals have grown worse as they have been lionized more and more by a society now reflexively deferential to the military… No one is pushing those leaders to step back and examine the shortcomings of their institution. These are dangerous developments. Unaddressed, they could lead to further failures in future wars.”"
But how to fix such an ingrained, systemic problem?
Whereas Yingling wanted Congress to intervene, Davis is looking for top ranking Pentagon officials of the civilian class to make a number of changes, including shrinking the group of 900 generals and admirals to a more reasonable number and change the promotion system to be more aligned with performance and success that would encourage “prudent risk-taking and nonconformist thinking.”
But more than anything, Davis argues that it’s time to replace “a substantial chunk” of today’s generals, starting with the three- and four-star ranks. Without this move, today’s leaders, who are products and benefactors of the existing system, don’t have the motivation to invoke substantive change.

These are the symptoms of a leadership that  values conformity over innovation, motivation and
thinking.  Simply stated these general's that "need to be sacked" are not in the positions they are in because they are failures, lazy , or unmotivated, but because these actions are expected, or more correctly the inverse is punished by the totalitarian rule.  Why stick your neck out if it is only going to result in your head getting whacked?  Just go with the flow.  Self preservation is paramount, right?

That is unless one is a moral and free thinker...... A free and moral man.

    Scenario:
Butter Bar LT. and his men are pined down by heavy enemy fire.  His men are dying.  His orders are to call in air support if heavy resistance is encountered.  What does he do?  He has called for help, he has been told to wait....  His men are dying.

The obedient servant waits and hopes.

The moral free thinker does something....  Anything!  He leads!  The command may be "Retreat!" or could be just as well  "Fix Bayonets and CHARGE!, but he will not sit and let him and his men die.

Just as the business man, inventor, engineer, playwright or poet must be free to create, so must the military commander be free to lead.  Free to be innovative.  Free to call bullshit when he or she sees it.  Free to carry out the moral mission assigned, without reprisal or political pressures......And this is why we have had the greatest military on the face of the earth.....and why today it is something, well a bit different.
