   I am at the point of just letting them have it; meaning do nothing, no fire department, no police, turn off the electricity, and leave... Let the looters (throwing bricks) figure out how to restock the shelvs at Wallgreen’s. Let the looters (the zero liability voters) figure out who to tax into oblivion when the factories close up and move. I want to stand at the smoldering perimeter (both literally and figuratively) and shout "This is yours! This is your world, a direct representation of your values. Do with it what you will, but I will refuse to do anything. Do not ask me for food, shelter or warmth. This is your world, live in it if you can."

I have privately joked that I am not been  mentally contaminated by a higher formal education, though my continual  murdering of the English language would beg to differ.  When I read Jefferson's quote in this article
"State a moral case to a plowman and a professor. The former will decide it as well, and often better than the latter, because he has not been led astray by artificial rules."
I was hooked and hade to share.

What do we do about it?

    A few day ago while having a deep social/philosophical discussion with some new friends regarding  what our country and western culture has become  I was asked a remarkably well timed and

simple question; "What do we do about it?".   I was caught off guard and replied truthfully, "I don't know."  No one involved in the discussion disputed the degenerative path we, as a country, are skipping down to hell with holding a hand basket full of hopelessness.  So how does one individual maintain his/her integrity and fight the system, a system that in it's current state is corrupt immoral and unjust?

 

 

The problem as I see it is akin to fans funning onto the football field after the big game.  If one or two fans run onto the field , security will tackle 'em, cuff 'em, and stuff 'em in a cell.  However if a dozen charge the field, well things change quickly.  That situation is the most dangerous,  the point when the "Security" feels threatened and feels things may tip out of control.  This is the point where the nightsticks start swinging. No one wants to be the first 25 on the field and get their clock cleaned.  And the fear of that is what keeps the fans in the stands, the fear of physical harm.  This fear is the fulcrum the state uses to keep us in our place.  However when the fulcrum of fear has been removed the minds of the fans, the field is flooded with fans and security is
rendered flaccid in the face of the mob.

 

Back to the question:  What do we do about it?  First let me state whatever one decides to do must be moral and not violate ones integrity.  Additionally whatever is decide must not violate another persons individual rights.  To not do so is to just be an agitator, rabble, unjust and immoral ceding any right to any credibility.  With that said let me ask do you feel powerless and if so why?  My bet is if you do feel powerless it is out of fear.  Fear of not being able to make a difference, fear of ridicule, fear of being numbers 1-25 running onto the field and getting wacked with the baton.  Oh! These are real fears, but fears nevertheless.  Fear though has to be quantified and put in its rightful place.  So after thinking about it I came up with the answer.  Rationally think about your fears and integrity and prioritize your actions with the relationship between the two in  mind.

 

So what does this mean?  Well it will mean something different to each and every person.  It may be as simple as overcoming the fear of publicly ridiculing someone who cuts in line at the grocery store. It may be actually penning a letter expressing ones heartfelt concerns and letting go of the fear of being monitored.  It may to  reinvestigate a closely held premises when contradicted.  One may decide to respond to a friends Facebook post and ask for an explanation of the "Progressive Meme". Decide how your actions or inaction can help or not.  And yes inaction is as valuable at times.  Think if you refused to rent a room, car, serve a meal etc. to a member of the organization you strongly oppose.

 

The bottom line is this, do not be afraid to act (or not) on your values.  Do not violate your integrity. I

am not going to say "Don't be afraid".  Be very afraid if warranted but measure that fear alongside your values and integrity. I am not going to go into what happens when the state becomes all powerful....

 

 

For me, I am getting over my fear of cleaning up filthy stinking messes.

Seriously, I love the debate and engage both friend and foe alike and am always amazed at how many people have made up their minds on one issue or another based on their feelings alone?  And rarely does any person want to be shown they are wrong, uniformed, or holds onto a flawed philosophy if they have one at all.  So let me stop you here…  If you are unwilling to think logically, go away now. There are plenty of other spots on the intenetz that have naked girls, egg , milk and granny panties, monkeys with machine guns and cats playing with yarn.

The two thing of most importance that I feel are lacking in our society today are peoples ability to have a philosophy and think logically, and defiantly not in that order.  You see in my humble yet seemingly arrogant opinion, one must first be logical before developing ones philosophy, otherwise the philosophy becomes an excuse for illogical thinking and beliefs.  For example, just take any one of the popular “-isims” of today and bring it to its natural and logical conclusion and define its outcome.  Do we wind up with a free people or a police state?  Does it become a theocracy, oligarchy, anarchy, or a stable and free civilization? 



So in my thinking, and hopefully somewhat logically, I have determined that there are two types of people, and therefore two types of societies.  I will define them for the purpose of discussion, Prime and Secondhand.  The Prime as it pertains to the individual is the Doer, The Producer, The Thinker/Creator.  He does not rely on others for satisfaction or affirmation.  He does because he wants to, be it write a song, build a Hot Rod, invent a new device or process, or code a program.  His work is his, to be traded for what he/she agrees by his own free will.   The same can be said for businesses.  A business may also be considered a Prime, such as the steel producer, car manufacture, or software firm.  A Prime business competes not only with its direct competition but also with itself much in the same way a professional golfer does.  A true Prime welcomes the competition as he knows it only makes him better.

So what is a “Second hander”?  The second hander lives off others work as a parasite.  The second hander is like the boss that takes all the credit when things go right and lays blame for when things go wrong. (I bet we have all seen that) It is the consultant that works harder to keep his client dependant rather than serve his clients best interest.  It is the corporation that lobbies for special consideration from the government to keep competition at bay.  It’s the songwriter that steals a line or a lick while giving no credit.  The second hander feeds off the Prime offering little in return, and certainly not by mutual agreement. The pinnacle example of the Second Hander is the welfare broodmare that has no intention of self betterment. (Yep I said it)  It is the person that shouts racism because his argument has failed, using the real pain and struggle of others as cover for his failed argument. (Go to hell race baiter.. feeding off of real hero's of the past..)  It is the person that lies about his military service, pretends to be a NYC 9-11 firefighter or cop. It is another shitty energy drink that is stuffed in a convenience store cooler thinking it will become the next Red Bull or monster without real work and vision.  Its the person or corporation that rides on another's success.

That said, I will go out on a limb and conclusively decree it is much better to be a Prime than a second hander.  (Don’t agree?  Make a logical argument that recognizes normal human behavior!)

With the above ideas in mind we can look at people, business, religions, philosophies, monetary systems and governments with a more critical eye and decide if they hurt, help, or are simply benign to the betterment of man. We can ask ourselves just what is our government promoting, being a Prime or a Second Hander?  Is a particular politician a Prime(leader) or a Second Hander(mindless poll whore).  Does a particular union serve its members or simply itself.  Is that new law serving a legitimate need or regulating an advantage of one business over another. 

......and dare I say Capitalism is the only social economic system that promotes the Primes rather than just outright stealing from them.

Nothing deep today, just some randomness.

Below is the most influential (to me that is) TV commercial and toy from my childhood. Smashing up cars, twangy country inbred hillbilly music, Ford vs. Chevy,  '57 Nomad, 57 Ford.   I begged and pleaded for the set as a youngster, (and quiet frankly I think it was an easy sell to the old man at the time), and received it for Christmas one year.   My brother and I would send them down the hallway head on at each other, black streaks from single flywheel/tire on the oak floor, chunks of wood torn from the baseboard.  Speed , destruction, ramps, wheels doors and prts flying off on impact.  Good times!  Hell Yeah!  The Evel Knievel stunt cycle was a close second, but Smash up Derby was the bomb.  I even went to the real deal spending lots of time in the '70's and early '80's at Islip Speedway (Click for documentary) not even knowing that I was at the center of the Demolition Derby universe at the time.

Most influential movie....Dr. Strangelove.  With a small caveat, for me it was tie with Full Metal Jacket and full Metal lost.  And why does FMJ loose?  Well that's because of a glaring flaw in the script in one of the most famous and most often quoted scenes.  (click to watch)  I hate big flaws.... and in this case, when firing from a moving platform (you are going faster than the target) you trail the target or otherwise shoot behind the slow moving target. Duh! (Click for an example)  And by the way, if you know any glairing movie/tv mistakes that have made it deep into pop culture feel free to comment. Not stuff that is simple mistakes of props, or use of stock footage, but stuff that makes you cringe. (Like the Irish Catholic fireman drinking the wrong whisky.  Has anyone out there caught that yet? That's like wearing a Boston hat in Yankee Stadium for gods sake!!! )  Just comment below, I would love to develop a list.
