This morning when I opened Drudge this add was at the top. I chuckled a little made a mental note to follow up and see what the race was all about and went on to reading the news Mr. Drudge felt important today. Well a few lines down appears this headline: J.D. Hayworth's add irks John McCain Interesting.
Snippets and comments:
""Ads like this have no place in the Republican primary, and J.D. Hayworth should immediately take it down and apologize," said Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., a strong McCain ally.""
Ha! I say John McCain has no place in the Republican party. He has repeatedly violated the basic principles of the party as well as put forth legislation that was in clear violation of the constitution. He has no place in either party and certainly no part in the Republican Party. He has only gained notoriety in the media because he has agreed with the left. As soon as he became a candidate he and his running mate were thrown under the proverbial media bus.
"Wen asked for a response to Kyl's complaint, Hayworth spokesman Jason Rose told AZ/DC: "We respectfully decline the request and would encourage Senator McCain to get a sense of humor. After all, if Sunday's show did have an award for best election year flip-flopping and transparent conservative conversion, the incumbent would surely win the Oscar.""
Oh how right that statement is. I have seen McCain on the talking head programs the past week or so and he is clearly in a "Redefine Mode"; running and talking as if he were a staunch conservative. Cough, Cough! RINO! Leaders lead. This guy is looking around seeing which way the crowd is running, jumping in front and proclaiming himself the leader.
BTW: I did vote for McCain's vice president and choked back the vomit. It was kinda like being given a choice to be sot with a .22 or .44 mag. Both could be lethal but it might have taken a little longer to bleed out.
Update: Original add, much more racist, snicker, but blue has been the self picked color of the Dem's for some time now.

Dish Network: A review
If you are looking to subscribing to The Dish Network I would make the recommendation as no, never, shoot yourself first. I Just received an unsolicited call from " The Dish Network" offering me service. OK, no big deal. I have dealt with telemarketers before and have learned that if I am polite and say I am not interested It saves both of us a lot of time.
Back to the call, I let this person make his opening statement and then say, "I am not interested but thanks for calling. Thank you very much". That is exactly what I said. No more, no less, in a mostly cheerful tone. He started again and I said and I quote, "I am not interested but thanks for calling. Thank you very much" this time in a slightly firmer tone. He continues.. "How much do you pay for.." I cut him off and say "I am not interested but thanks for calling. Thank you very much.", this time in the calmest manner possible (Picture a Drill Sergeant warning a recruit that he is treading into dangerous territory and about to get his guts stomped out by abn irate D.I. if not careful.)
At this point he shold have hung up but kept going and I lose it. I raised my voice a bit and said "I am not interested but thanks for calling. Fuck You very much!"
Now I am sure all telemarketers have had people cuss at them. I bet they have had all types on the phone from one point or another, but I highly doubt they are taught to cuss back at their prospective clients. He responds "Fuck You!". There is a bunch of laughter in the background. And I am pretty sure I said "I was polite several times now. I am not interested. Fuck you very much." He responds FUCK YOU! with laughter in the background. Now If this is the way prospective clients are treated I only cringe how this company will treat it's paying customers. What a bunch of assholes. This P.O.S. should be fired.
BTW: Call came in at 18:13 est. from phone number (904) 262-0212 and had a caller I.D. of World Wide Comm. Beware. (I also let him know I would make others aware of this. He laughed and said "fuck you". Nobody ever warned him the Internetz is serious business.)

The Progressive Nanny State and Murder for the Greater Good, A follow up.
As a follow up my previous post, The Progressive Nanny State and Murder for the Greater Good, here is a story that illustrates what dangers the individual citizen faces when the state becomes involved in Prohibition.
Story: Family questions SWAT drug search that led to dog’s death.
In the comments:
There is so much missing from this it's disgraceful. The dog ran to the door and was barking... Anybody else have a dog that does this when someone comes to the door much less smashes it in??? Shots were fired all through this house. Numerous shots were fired thoughout this house. 7 in the pitbull itself. Blood everywhere! Bullet holes in the walls, moldings, tile. Will the City be paying for that to be fixed?? They didn't know any details when they went in. I would love to know which judge signed off on the search warrant. CPD had NO idea he was married and NO idea he had a child! Don't you think that might be something you want to get to know before you storm a house? Not like they don't live in a nice neighborhood as well. 30+ officers and a swat bus for a dimebag and a pipe. 2 different neighbors called police reporting shots fired. Dispatch told said callers there were no officers on scene! What a cluster****! If I still lived in CoMO I wouldn't vote for a single thing to support CPD. The idiots are running the assylum!
So its OK to have SWAT kick in a door, shoot two pet dogs, a Pit Bull and a Corgi, killing the Bit Bull, for what appears to be a misdemeanor amount of marijuana. Then throw on a child endangerment charge? How nice. How about an extra charge for kitchen knives and floor cleaner in the house. I am a strong supporter of law enforcement and am not a fan of Pit Bulls or drug dealers, but come on folks. Was the risk taken by the SWAT team worth it. Multiple gun shots in a house with human lives present including a seven year old. a wife, for a little pot. Hell even a lot of pot! Bottom line is that the cops were ready to kill , or be killed themselvs for that matter, to enforce these laws. Is it really worth it.

Stairway to Heaven
For those that did not know, Stairway to Heaven was originally penned Lennon and McCartney back in '64. All rights to the song were lost to Plant and Page during a Drinking contest some years later. This long lost tape has just recently been found, and shows the fab four performing the song in it's original arrangement. Enjoy.

The Progressive Nanny State and Murder for the Greater Good
Story: The Chemist's War
I titled this post The Progressive Nanny State and Murder for the Greater Good, though provocative and some may say inflammatory for good reason. The above linked article is illustrative of what government can and did do "For the Greater Good". Post WWI was the start of "Progressive thinking in the united states. We saw laws and policies that clearly violated individual rights for the "greater good" such as Federal gun control laws, welfare programs, as well as Prohibition. No matter what the intention of these laws and policies were, the bottom line is, death to individuals, by the hand of the government action. In this case the U.S Government Intentionally poisoned Industrial Alcohol supplies because it became frustrated with it's ineffective enforcement of alcohol sale and distribution, resulting in the death of thousands of people.
"Frustrated that people continued to consume so much alcohol even after it was banned, federal officials had decided to try a different kind of enforcement. They ordered the poisoning of industrial alcohols manufactured in the United States, products regularly stolen by bootleggers and resold as drinkable spirits. The idea was to scare people into giving up illicit drinking. Instead, by the time Prohibition ended in 1933, the federal poisoning program, by some estimates, had killed at least 10,000 people."
This is what happens when one suffers from "Group Think". The individual is not targeted for his individual drunkard behavior, the group was targeted, the inanimate object blamed. This is the typical convoluted logic the progressives use. Prohibition, though it was technically legal, had a total disregard for individual rights and was and is totally immoral. 10,000 poisoned and add in how many more individual ancillary deaths for a law that was eventually repealed? (Yeah that sound like it worked out just fine........< sarcasm>)
I guess it is OK to murder if you are the government and frustrated and it is for the "Greater Good".

Deep secrets: Former cold war agent gagged by the CIA
Interesting story regarding the Cold War "Uber" secret recovery of a Soviet Golf submarine in the Pacific.
Story: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article7034913.ece
"David Sharp recalls every detail of the 1974 mission known as Project Azorian, one of the most ambitious, expensive and politically volatile clandestine operations launched by the CIA.
As one of the CIA’s agents in charge of recovering a sunken Soviet submarine and its cargo of nuclear-tipped missiles, Sharp spent 63 days at sea on what he described last week as a “marvellous engineering effort and a marvellous security effort to keep it under wraps”. "
As an interesting side note, after reading Blind Man's Bluff: The Untold Story of American Submarine Espionage a few years back, I remembered reading as a kid an illustrated science encyclopedia about Howard Hughes mining manganese nodules from the ocean floor. Blind Man's Bluff is a great book an definitely on my recommended reading list.

Lockeing Up Leviathan
I came across this accidently while engaged in a philisopical debade with one of my freinds; Lockeing Up Leviathan . It is agreat artical by Jerry Salcido, and place it high on my recomended reading list. The comments are also outstanding.
"Without need of either advocating or rejecting Hobbes' arguments in favor of a strong State, one can hardly look upon modern governments, including the United States federal government and the individual United States, without agreeing that Hobbes' depiction of the State as a Leviathan, that is, a threatening, powerful beast, was spot-on.
Like any carnivorous beast, Leviathan has a ravenous appetite, but it differs in that its appetite is never satisfied and it has even been known to eat itself to death. Leviathan's only and favorite staple is, of course, taxes. "

5out of 5
Pros: Good Power Output, Great Sound Quality, Clean SoundBest Uses: Multiple Rooms / Whole House, Home Theater
Describe Yourself: Practical, Tech Savvy
Was upgrading from an old Kenwood system that lasted me many years, but I had to get into this century.
This receiver met all my requirements:
5.1 system.
Price.
Four HDMI Inputs.
Two Zones.
Quality/Reputation of brand.
Set up was not that bad, but read the instructions. This receiver has a lot of capabilities that may add a level of complexity for the not so patient. Sound set up with the enclosed mic worked great. I have an "L" shaped TV room that I thought would be difficult to set up, but the receiver Auto-calibrated and set up just fine. If you have a subwoofer make sure you set it up as recommended in the instructions, it will sounds great!
The two zone feature works very well though it requires set up to work properly. Not that hard, but once again, read and be patient.
Bottom line; if you need two zones and don't need a 7.1 system and upconversion, this is an outstanding choice. With Four HDMI in ports you cant go wrong.

TOTUS strikes again!
This proves he has no real Idea about the context of his speech. The word meant nothing to him. NOTHING! It was just a bunch of letters on TOTUS. Go through the motions, move on. It would have been better to say Navy or Marine Medic ( if this person is a Corpsman; but could be a CTI or Interpretive Cryptologic Technicians that handles language translation). This at least would have just shown his lack of understanding of our armed forces.
However this proves; He speaks without understanding! Gulp!
I remember Clinton made a speech on board one of our CVN’s years back. He said something like, “thanks to all the great sailors of this fine ship, from the Stern, (He points aft) to the Bow”, (pronounced as in “bow neck tie” or rimes with “Big Toe” and points forward while glancing at his notes) That was good for a chuckle, this on the other-hand is scary.

What Is the First Amendment For?
I have always advocated that freedom of speech is freedom of all speech, particularly political speech. Let the good ideas as well as the bad compete unfettered by particularly the government.
Good read, especially if you consider yourself a conservative.
Story: What Is the First Amendment For?
"Citizens United v. Federal Election commission — the recent case in which the Supreme Court invalidated a statute prohibiting corporations and unions from using general treasury funds either to support or defeat a candidate in the 30 days before an election, and overruled an earlier decision relied on by the minority — has now been commented on by almost everyone, including the president of the United States in his state of the union address."
"Only Thomas has the courage of the majority’s declared convictions. Often the most principled of the judges (which doesn’t mean that I always like his principles), he is willing to follow a principle all the way, and so he rebukes his colleagues in the majority for preferring the value of more information to the value the First Amendment mandates — absolutely free speech unburdened by any restriction whatsoever including the restriction of having to sign your name. Thomas has caught his fellow conservatives in a consequentialist moment."

PAK FA Russian Fifth Generration fighter.
Story: Russia unveils top secret new fighter.
Specifications: Global Security
Video:
My observations:
I do not believe this aircraft will have true stealth capabilities that the F-22 enjoys. Stealth is in the details and the details tell all. On the fuselage, in typical Ruski fashion I observed riveting, the engine intakes appear to be non stealthy as well as exhaust nozzles. The fan blades of the engines will look as big as a barn to a modern western radar if careful consideration is not taken to the shape and placement of the engine. This is very difficult to do and maintain high performance. It is unclear if the aircraft has an internal bay, one would assume it must to be a true Gen.V aircraft. There is also a lack of "Z" notching of panels and doors seams, or any type of stealth coating on the canopy. The cockpit of an aircraft as well as door/panel seams are huge radar reflectors and is difficult to mask.
My bet is that this aircraft has an ordinary RCS (Radar Cross Section) and is not a stalth aircraft at all. It will have to rely on ECM techniques to mask it'self from western radars and at that point you know something is ouththere. This bird is nothing more than a target when compaired to the F-22.

Some thoughts:
- Wow! That's big!
- The guy that starts those engines has to have guts x4. Lost a fingernail as a kid and that hurt like hell with an 0.49 engine and these are what; chainsaw engines? I would be afraid of loosing a hand.
- From a distance it probably be hard to make out the scale.
- Would you be allowed to fly one of these in Japan?
- Should have an opperational Bomb-Bay.

UN's push for Arms Trade Treaty could affect American gun ownership.
Story: Ban by baby steps
"In Hillary's world, radical ideas progress at first with baby steps that ultimately become great strides to harness the destructive forces in society. That's why the current Secretary of State and the other Hillarys in her world are drawing a bead on gun owners, mainly those in the United States"
"Essentially, the international community doesn't understand why Americans respect and protect their Second Amendment rights because in most countries no such rights exist," said Sanetti, who is presiding over the annual Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade (SHOT) show. "Of course, the Founders added the Second Amendment as one of the safeguards, and it's not something open for discussion as far as we're concerned.
"The current (Obama) administration has gone on record as saying it's time for this country to rejoin the community of nations and get more in line with various international goals. So, definitely, gun control is moving to the forefront, though not in such an-in-your-face, confrontational manner that we've seen before in this country. Gun control advocates go in one direction, try and fail, and then go in another direction. That's been the pattern."

Air America Fail
Story: http://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/01/21/air-america-to-cease-broadcasting-immediately/
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100122/ap_on_en_ot/us_air_america_bankruptcy
Air America was doomed from the very start and I am suppressed it lasted as long as it did. What doomed it was a “Failed Concept” that merely an opposing point of view can be successful in Talk radio.
What makes a talk radio show successful or any other show for that matter is compelling and entertaining content. Example: A large audience portion of Rush’s show do not agree with him politically, but listen to him because he is compelling and entertaining. The same can be said for Howard Stern. Huge numbers of listeners found “lesbian strippers” to be distasteful and disgusting but tuned in buy the thousands every day. I listened to Air America and I rarely found it compelling or entertaining. It did not hold my attention. In short its content sucked. I fully expected to be yelling at my radio but found myself underwhelmed and turned the station in short order.
That said, political talk radio, whether Conservative, Libertarian, or Religious, has a coherent philosophy that subjects are discussed within, resulting in consistent discussions that are often compelling. Couple that with a competent host, some good business practices and you will have a marketable show on your hands. Do this with a superior host and you will have a great show worth millions.
Progressive/Liberal talk fails because its underlying philosophy is incoherent, hidden or nonexistent. Even a great host will suck if the underlying content is crappy. For example, Al Franken is a very skilled comedian and host, but he failed because the content of his show was not coherent, compelling or very entertaining.

In short, Progressive/Liberal ideas fail because of its underlying philosophy or lack thereof. Throwing money, “mad skills”, does not change this. Progressive/Liberal talk radio was doomed from the start, assuming a free market of course.

Epic Loss?
Story: Democrats seek back footing after epic Mass. loss
"Obama himself grimly faced a need to regroup on Wednesday, the anniversary of his inauguration, in a White House shaken by the realization of what a difference a year made."
"The local election played out against a national backdrop of animosity and resentment from voters over persistently high unemployment, Wall Street bailouts, exploding federal budget deficits and partisan wrangling over health care."
I dont necessarily agree this was an "Epic loss for the Dems, but I do feel this race is going to turn the tide between the "Progressives" and the "Constitutionalists", just as the Battle of Midway changed the war in the Pacific in WWII. This is a battle that by all rights the Dems should have won, but didn't.
Why?
A quick note to the RINOS out there. "I am not a Democrat" is not a philosophy. Statism is a bankrupt political philosophy. You will loose also.

This is a battle that by all rights the Dems should have won, but didn't.
Why?
- The Progressive can not state their political ideals out loud, "Statism", because if they do, the ideas are rejected.
- The progressives dismissed the Tea Party "A bunch of Nuts". This can not be further from the truth. The Teabaggers are a mix of Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, and others that strongly believe that the Constitution is actually a real document that limits our government; and that the Constitution is being ignored and our liberties debased. These Teabaggers are actually constitutionalists that see the big picture. The
KennedyMartha Coakley campaign and the Progressive administration did not and could not run against this. To run against these "Teabaggers"would be to admit their existence, give credit to their ideas, and that is the last thing the progressives can afford.
- The present administration ran and won a campaign on the premise of "We are not George Bush". This worked, but it is a tactic and not a strategy. Tactics may win battles, but they don't necessarily win wars. Tactics must be coupled with sound strategy, and in the political sense, strategy means a sound philosophy. "I am not Bush" is not a philosophy. Statism is a bankrupt political philosophy. Adherence to the constitution is a sound political philosophy as well as promoting Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Brown ran on this,
KennedyMartha Coakleydid not.

Merry Christmas from the Family
Robert Earl Keene's Merry Christmas from the Family Lyrics and Chords:
G C9
Mom got drunk and Dad got drunk
G C9
At our Christmas party
G Em
We were drinkin' champagne punch
C D
And homemade eggnog
G C9
Little sister brought her new boyfriend
G C9
He was a Mexican
G Em
We didn't know what to think of him
C D
'Til he sang Feliz Navidad
G
Feliz Navidad
Brother Ken brought his kids with him
The three from his first wife Lynn
And the two identical twins
From his second wife MaryNell
Of course he brought his new wife Kaye
Who talks all about AA
Chain smokin' while the stero plays
Noel, Noel, The first Noel
CHORUS:
D
Carve the turkey turn the ball game on
C
Mix Margaritas when the eggnog's gone
D
Send somebody to the Quik-Pak store
C
We need some ice and an extention cord
D
A can of bean dip and some Diet Rite
C
A box of tampons and some Marlboro Lights
G Em
Hallelujah everybody say cheese
C D G
Merry Christmas from the family
Fran and Rita drove from Harlingen
I can't remember how I'm kin to them
But when they tried to plug their motorhome in
They blew our christmas lights
Cousin David knew just what went wrong
So we all waited on our front lawn
He threw the breaker and the lights came on
And we sang Silent Night
Oh Silent Night
CHORUS:
Carve the turkey turn the ballgame on
Make Bloody Marys cause we all want one
Send somebody to the Stop 'n Go
We need some celery and a can of fake snow
A bag of lemons and some Dite Sprite
A box of tampons and some Salem Lights
Hallelujah everybody say cheese
Merry Christmas from the family
Feliz Navidad.

And where was the outrage then…..?
Last night my neighborhood had its annual Christmas, luminary/hayride party. It was very nice. Santa showed up. The kids got a candy canes, cookies and hot chocolate. Homemade treats were freely consumed as well as a few adult beverages ( in big red cups to keep this a G rated family event.) Nice times, big smiles and the rain held off; an overall success.
But then there was Stan.
Stan is a neighbor that wears his "Progressive Liberalism" on his sleeve. He works at or just promotes a local radio station that carries and spews Liberal blather. He has never been shy about his political views. Other than his driving skills, he is mostly tolerated in the neighborhood .
This is what happened. Last night my buddy M1ARocks happened to have on this T-shrit. It was not displayed prominently as he wore it under his jacket but Stan saw it and immediately launched into a loud F-Bomb laden diatribe calling my buddy a traitor, racist, and any other despicable adjective you can think of. M1 just stood there kinda smirking and giggling as Stan went on. I politely reminded Stan that there were kids present and Santa probably doesn't appreciate the language. We then reminded Stan that for eight years there was no outrage for disrespecting our president.

American thinker story: Entrepreneurs Go on Strike
"With the threat of this administration and congress, what is the possible motivation for anyone with ideas and capital to invest his time, talent, and money into a risky endeavor? There appears to be none. In fact, there appear to be powerful incentives not to invest any time or treasure -- thus an economy with almost zero creative inertia."

The fifth amendment and why you should not talk to the police...
This video, Don't talk to the police. Though I am a huge proponent of law enforcement and law and order, this has been very eye opening. Things i learned: If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to say. If you have something to hide, you can not help the situation by talking. Unsure....... don't talk. Sitting on a Jury... The fifth is for the innocent.
Updated: This video , though produced by the ACLU is a good primer on your rights as a citizen and how to act when dealing with the police. I am not a fan of the drugs displayed in this or for the ACLU for that matter, but just substitute "whatever" questionable material for another. Just think of all the odd stuff you may have in your house or car that could draw attention to a well intentioned but very suspicious law enforcement officer.

Dog Tale
My good friends and neighbors yesterday had their dog Noah Franklin pass on yesterday. Noah was a male Aussie Shepherd that was super-smart, good natured, and a neighborhood icon. Noah was up in years but had just received a second chance on life several months ago after he was discovered to be ill. He was diagnosed with large abdominal tumors, that the vet removed, but his fate was uncertain. For the past three months or so he was alert, and spry, but we all knew he was on borrowed time.
Last night his owners, neighbors, my wife, and myself, hung out and had a kind of an impromptu wake, consuming adult beverages and talking about Noah Franklin. This story was related to me by Noah's owner and my guitar picking partner "Hazy Grout".
Hazy had left Noah in the care of a friend while he vacationed up north . Almost immediately after Hazy departed, Noah had escaped and wound up incarcerated in the county pound. Now I know what you are thinking, "Poor Dog" has to spend a week or so in the pound locked up in the pound. He will probably be sold for a dog biscuit and become some mutts "Bitch".
Well, not so fast....
When Hazy went to pick up Noah, he encountered typical county govt. agency bureaucracy. It seems they could not locate a Male Black and White Aussie Shepard, but reported "we have Black and white female named Noah". The un-neutered dog was locked up for almost two weeks with the female population! Noah slept steady for three days after his return home and probably still curses Hazy for "posting his bail"! (Told you the dog was smart. Probably had the whole thing planed out.)
He will be missed.
This was also a topic of discussion last night, The twilight Zone episode The Hunt from 1964.

DC sniper's Muhammad's execution
Story: DC sniper's Muhammad's execution set for tonight
I am looking forward to tonight's execution of John Allen Muhammad as much as one would look forward to having ones kitchen sprayed for bugs. I am completely unemotional about the death of thisbug person but I know I will sleep better now that it he has been removed from the face of the earth. I can only hope that he as found peace and forgiveness from a loving god but somehow I doubt that this Jihadest scumbag did. Good riddance and I hope you get to enjoy a pork chop dinner as you last meal (fed as a suppository). We must remember that 10 people were removed from the face of the earth prematurely with no chance to finish their lives, talk to their love ones, share one more thought. The will never again hug their children, spouses, or even get the chance to ask for forgiveness from someone.
Get the F*** off my earth!

Sergeant Kimberly Munley ---- Hero
Story: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article6906278.ece
Now, what this murdering P.O.S. did was an act of war. He not only violated his oath as an US Officer but his Hippocratic Oath as a medical doctor. After the trial it is my hope that this traitorous murderer hangs from the neck until dead. (And that's only because drowning in a vat of liquefied pork would be considered too unusual)
Thank God for our first responders, but if someone else was armed than the carnage would have been much more limited. The bad guy always gets the first shot in a "Non War" situation but being armed will almost always help you defend yourself and/or others from a lunatic, or in this case the Jihadist. Almost every person in that room had proven him or herself proficient in the use of firearms and I can not think of a safer location than to be in the midst of dozens of armed US service men and women. One gun in that room could have saved 12 lives. Same thing in the Virgina murder spree. Fire arms should be in the hands of good people, it saves lives.
It has been reported that Hasan shouted "Allahu Akbar" - God is great - before carrying out the shootings.

Fort Hood
I am so deeply saddened and friggin pissed off by what happened at fort hood. the F-ing scumbag murderer that took the dozen lives did so knowing that he would be unopposed for the most part. I wish there were just a few side arms present when the "scumbag future hell dweller" started his evil escapade. Some return fire would have saved lives, but no. Sarcasm Warning: Not allowed to be able to defend yourself, it's the American way. I think it is time to reinstate the practice of at least the officers of our armed forces openly carry loaded side arms at all times. At most a situation like this should result in two dead , not twelve. (I will not get into the "religion of peace" just yet but reserve the right.)
